This 5 week course is designed to help you discover that writing is the tool you need to better understand your past experiences, grow from your struggles, reclaim your own story, and charge confidently ahead to the future that waits for you.


The weekly activities are thoughtfully created to help you move through your own experiences and write your way to personal clarity. The value of writing has nothing to do with how many people read it, or how worthy it is by anyone else’s standards, but what it offers to you as you string words together on the page and plunge into spaces within your own heart that you didn’t know existed. It is the surest way to make sense of our own stories and take back the pen to truly create our own lives.

A college writing instructor who also blogs about the adventures of single motherhood on Mama the Reader, Katie used writing as her own tool for clarity and purpose in the depths of major life changes and moments of loss. When she launched this project, she had one goal in mind: to share the power of writing with other women and show them how it paved the way to her own healing and discovery and can do just the same for them.

What if I'm not a writer?
This course is for everyone, and you will benefit from the activities no matter what your writing experience is. You have the option of sending some of your work to me for an editing consultation, but you are not required as part of the class. All of your work will remain yours, and other students cannot see it. The value is in what it does for YOU.
What will I need for this course?
You need 20 minutes a day, a journal and pen, and a good dose of curiosity about your life's questions. --- Each week gives you three activities centered around its particular theme: journaling prompts you scribble in your journal in their raw state, a more thoughtful writing prompt to form a more complete personal narrative, and a “your work in action” activity where I give you advice on how to carry your ideas from the page to your regular life in a way that can offer light and guidance. .
When does the course start and finish?
Enrollment is open now, and you can begin as soon as you register. -- It is a 5-week course where the contents are delivered to you week-by-week every 7 days. But you actually have lifetime access to the material, so it is essentially self-paced. Although the exercises are given to you each week, most of our participants actually take much longer to complete them. Take all the time you need.
How long do I have access to the course?
After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
